Establishing an atmosphere of female empowerment and education is a priority for our cause. For this reason, we held Girls Club sessions throughout the month of July 2023.
Through hard work and dedication, we were able to accommodate 65 girls in the Norton area. Sessions included lessons on the issues of 1) menstrual hygiene, 2) sexual reproductive health rights, 3) female education, 4) mental health and well-being, 5) peer pressure and 6) choosing better careers.
We are very excited about the success of this program and will continue with additional educational groups in the future.

These interventions help to equip girls and young women with powerful knowledge to change their futures. An average of 40 young people frequent the youth centre per day.

The project received favorable media coverage and was recognized by the World Bank. In 2010 we were invited to participate at the Global Youth Forum held in Brussels. Simuka Africa was one of the founding members of the Global Youth Anti-Corruption Network, which was formed at the Global Youth Leadership Forum.
Also, Simuka Africa helped mobilize youth to participate in the constitution-making processes in Zimbabwe. This led to the current new constitution of the country. Further, Simuka Africa was elected to represent Zimbabwean youngsters at the Africa Union Pre-Heads of States Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The delegation was involved in drafting the agenda for the AU Heads of States Summit.

With the support from United Nations Volunteer Office in Zimbabwe, VSO, UNICEF and Proudly Zimbabwe Foundation, Simuka Africa initiated a number of clean-up campaigns.
These campaigns helped to promote sustainable waste management, reduction of litter and eventually the reduction of diseases such as cholera & typhoid. We also helped in distributing water buckets, donated by UNICEF, to poor and vulnerable households. Further, we installed bins at the main shopping centres.
Access to safe water for all is a Simuka spearhead. In 2012 Simuka Africa Youth Organization was sponsored by World Bank to host "World Water Day." The commemorations were held at Knowe Primary School in Norton. The borehole at the school was rehabilitated with support from V W Engineering.
World Bank donated books, trees and buckets. Safety clothing was also given to the Norton Town Council Engineering Department. In addition, Simuka Africa Youth Association enabled, with the financial support of Simba Mukaka Foundation and technical support of Norton Town Council’s Department of Engineering, the rehabilitation of 21 boreholes.
The boreholes were drilled by UNICEF and other partners in response to perennial water crises, that led to the outbreak of cholera and other diseases. Simuka Africa also helped to empower water committees with basic information on borehole maintenance. To date, more than 20,000 people benefited from having access to clean water.
